Turing Machine

• The Turing machine was invented in 1936 by Alan Turing .
• A Turing machine is a simple abstract computational device intended to help investigate the extent and limitations of what can be computed. It contained the fundamental principles of modern computers. Today, it is considered to be one of the foundational models of computability and (theoretical) computer science. It was created to intercept and decipher Germany's plans on attacking England and shortening the war by 2 years.
• It was not a predecessor of other technology.
• Interesting Fact: Despite the model's simplicity, given any computer algorithm, a Turing machine capable of simulating that algorithm's logic can be constructed. It was so big that it took up a whole room.
