CP/M

- CP/M (Computer Program/Monitor) is an operating system that was originally developed in 1974.
- CP/M increased the market size for both hardware and software by greatly reducing the amount of programming required to install an application on a new manufacturer's computer. CP/M was created for Intel 8080/85 based microcomputers . An 8-bit processor was used by the beginning versions of CP/M. CP/M was used to control 8-16 bit processors.
- The features of CP/M were used as a guide to develop the operating system for SCP. In fact, the list of operating system functions duplicates the same list of functions for CP/M-80.
- Gary Kildall invented CP/M .
- Interesting Fact: Compared to the operating systems of today, the CP/M of the late 1970s was barely a file controller.
